spear and senator feinstein to create that national policy, but guess what? whatever we do locally, whether i work with livia cohen as we are making illegal the possession of hollow point munition that has no place in our society here, we know that if the next county over doesn't do the same thing or the next region, it will come in very easily. we have to work locally, regionally and nationally. and so as we do these things i'm going to continue to talk about our need to support senator feinstein's national effort for the assault weapons ban that she had in the 90's and that expired in 2004. it's going to be a lot more comprehensive and we need to have that. it's going to be an uphill fight, as president obama has reminded us, but we have it keep talking about it. we have to keep it in the forefrupt. we have to keep the pictures of our youth in front of us in everything that we do. this is what i am willing to do and again continue asking everybody for help in the city because the more i do that, the more of the graciousness of our community comes out because this is not somet
for the future and economic prosperity of this whole area. when this subway extension opens as senator feinstein pointed out there will be 44,000 people using this light rail line. what she didn't point out that will make it the second or third busiest light rail in the united states. this is an environment that needs to be made and once it's built are gone the days when we have senior citizens watching the drive by and waiting for a bus that won't stop and then they have to stand on the bus and that bus has to crawl through the same traffic as the cars and get there in way too long period of time. means we will get into a elevator and on the rail and get to your destination in as little as eight minutes. for transit to succeed in the country it needs to be reliable and viable and we need it in the bay area reliable. muni has its challenges and bart is running the oldest rail cars in the united states right now. >> is it over? >> it's over. , leadership pelosi has been a huge champion with senator feinstein in preserving the program. we know we have a huge champion in you as we look at tax reform, we're confident that you will be with us on that issue. we get investors to buy the tax credits and that helps to pay for the building. it's a very complicated transaction and todd is here representing the foundation. they have brought in equity investment of over $1.2 billion. to give you a sense of how important they are and how important the program is. thank you. [ applause ] you know in san francisco, everything is green, but liz helps us go greener. and so they have provided an important pre-development grant to help us understand how to green this project and make them the most environmentally sustainability program. they are a huge partner with us nationally and with all the communities and the work that they do across the country. so thank you stephanie and liz.
